麻豆短视频传媒 President M. Christopher Brown II was on hand at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage for the historic signing of Senate Bill 270, which strengthened Kentucky State鈥檚 partnership with Simmons College and West Louisville.
The bill will assist in the production of teachers for hard-to-staff schools; increase the preparation of K-12 educators, especially those of color; create a partnership with Simmons to deliver Kentucky State courses to West Louisville; remove obstacles to allow Kentucky State to accept transfer credits from Simmons; and bring health services, employment information, and holistic family services into the neighborhood to address food deserts.
鈥淪enate Bill 270 is a game changer,鈥� President Brown said. 鈥淲ith the stroke of a pen, the Commonwealth of Kentucky will put our money where our mouth is. We are not asking our citizens to 鈥榩ull themselves up by their bootstraps鈥� when we know they have no shoes. We are offering a helping hand in standing up, walking forward, and being successful members of the community. This is the best of state government.鈥�
President Brown gave thanks and recognition to Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Senate President Robert Stivers, the Legislative Black Caucus, Senator Gerald Neal and the entire General Assembly.
鈥淭he measures that I am signing today, under bipartisan support, in this divided world, will promote equity and fairness,鈥� Governor Beshear said. 鈥淔rom Pre-K to higher ed and beyond, education is the key to breaking cycles of poverty and to create a pathway to real opportunity.鈥�
President Brown said the legislation charges Kentucky State to bring education to the front door of West Louisville.
鈥淚n church, I have learned you do not have to come out to be blessed - you can blessed right where you are,鈥� President Brown said. 鈥溌槎苟淌悠荡� and the Commonwealth of Kentucky will bless West Louisville right where they are. No need to move - Kentucky State will come to you.鈥�
